Justice League

Image
BBFC Rating : 12A Released: November 17th 2017 Directed By: Zac Snyder and Joss Whedon Cast : Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Ezra Miller, Jason Mamoa, Ray Fisher Many different people have had many opinions on Batman v Superman, with not many positive, and it seems o be the same feelings for justice league. While most critics have slammed the film, and I can see why they might, I feel the same as with Dawn of justice, it is underrated. The film follows directly after BvS, with the threat that Jessie Heisenberg's Lex Luthor was warning us about coming true, and he Earth coming under an invasion, with Batman ( Ben Affleck) bringing the Dc superheroes together to defend the planet. The film starts off with Baman trying to find information by taking out a common criminal, which is weird because in doing so, the criminal manages to jump between massive distances in the space of one shot. This sort of sums up the way the film has been put together, where it is sadly not...

Thor: Ragnarok

Image
Released: 24th October 2017 (United Kingdom) BBFC rating: 12A Directed By Taika Waititi Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum. After two mediocre Thor solo films, the third and presumably final shot at one before the end of the Avengers needed to be a good one. I think it is safe to say that Waititi has done a spectacular job, and has created a entry to the MCU that really does stand out from the rest of the franchise. This can be seen through his evident style running through the film, being a more humorous take on the character, and in retrospect the funniest film in the Marvel franchise so far, with a range of humor styles withing satire and slapstick. With the inclusion of the Hulk as well, it helps to develop the characters more over the course of the story, showing the true nature of Thor through the use of another character. As well as this if characters are being considered, then the addition of Korg, played...

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Image
Released 31st March 2016 Directed By : Taika Waititi BBFC Rating 12 Cast: Sam Neill, Julian Dennison, Rachel House, Taika Waititi With director Taika Waititi taking on the Hammer of Thor, it is interesting to look at films he has ventured on not so long ago. Hunt for the Wilderpeople follows the journey of  Ricky and his adoptive father Huc, as they go through the New Zealand forests trying to escape his social worker Paula. The film starts off hitting hard, with a very emotional 20 minutes going through the journey of Ricky and what he has been through, as well as the main set up for the story. The rest of the film turns into a game of cat and mouse, with the relationship between the foster child and his carer being established throughout the film. It is a really touching story, as there is certain relativity to the narrative, and you can't help but love both of the main characters. The film also indulges well in its second genre of comedy, having the dialogue filled with...

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Image
Released: 22nd September 2017 BBFC rating: 15 Directed by: Matthew Vaughn Cast: Taron Edgerton, Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Pedro Pascal, Halle Berry The surprise success of Kingsman: The Secret Service has lead life into the second instalment. After the vents of the first film, Eggsy (Edgerton) has joined the high ranks of the Kingsman, but after a Drug Lord (Moore) destroys the Kingsman, they seek refuge with the American cousins, the Statesman, and attempt to bring down the Golden Circle. From the start of the film, it gets straight into the story, with a spectacular action sequence that does well to build up later events. that is one of the key improvements from the last film, the action is more confident than the last one, with the same notable style, but with more daring and content, learning from what they did before. As well as this the humor is stepped up a fair part, with returning gags from the last one, with a lot of c...

Logan

Image
Released: March 1st 2017 BBFC rating : 15 Directed by: James Mangold Cast: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant After 9 attempts at the character of Wolverine, Hugh Jackman closes the story arc in this one of finale film that releases him from the role, and leaves him on a high point. This is by far the best X-men film in the series, and creates a moving story that does not leave you feeling like you cannot connect with each of the characters. Each scene creates emotion in the viewer, and the brutality of the film keeps the action realistic, as well as inducing genuine horror through the movie. I love how the main story is centred on a selected few characters, as well as the idea that this film is a one off, so the film doesn't really have any boundaries. The idea of guilt and regret run throughout the film, and left me with sombre after the fil, is finished, and overloaded with ideas. One reason for this is its mix of genres, being a...

John Wick Chapter 2

Image
Released: 17th February 2017 BBFC rating: 15 Directed by: Chad Stahelski The surprise hit that was John Wick brought a new light to a typical action film, and left more of an impact on the film industry, as well as being a lot larger than anyone thought it would be. Now John Wick returns to find that he is being called back into work by a marker, and John (Keanu Reeves) has no choice to start working again. It starts pretty much where the last one left off, where we find Mr. Wick dissolving the last of the Tarasov empire. After finally hoping for a retirement John is found by Santonia D'Antonio, who forces him to come back to work, at any cost. The film has everything that made the last one great, with the same action style and brutality of the first film, but still brings new aspects to a simple revenge story, which doesn't leave you feeling like your watching a copy paste of the last one. The idea of having the same basic principals and motives of chapter 1 however, me...

Dunkirk

Image
Released: 21st July 2017 BBFC rating: 12A Directed by: Christopher Nolan Cast: Fionn Whitehead, Harry Styles, Tom Hardy , Sir Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy Dunkirk centres around the military evacuation of 400,000 troops from the French beaches, and looks at the different areas the scenarios take place. The three point of view each start off at different points, with the beaches events taking place over one week, the landing crafts events over one day, and the air support in one hour. This creates a spectacular narrative, with certain events overlapping, showing the action from different points of view. This film is simply spectacular, with great acting from newcomer Fionn Whitehead, and a brilliant screenplay from director Christopher Nolan. The film focuses on the action more than the dialogue in the most part, which creates an atmosphere of an action thriller or a horror movie rather than a historical drama, which creates a great sense of what the characters ...

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Image
Released: July 7th 2017 (U.K) BBFC rating: 12A Directed by: Jon Watts After Marvel announced that they would be helming a Spider-Man film inside the MCU, there where speculations of he best Spider-Man film to date. Marvel has taken that place at the top spot and Homecoming has successfully integrated Spidey into the timeline of the MCU. The film starts off really well, matching up to Peter Parker's ( Spider-Man's) prospective of the event of Civil war exactly to the footage of the third Captain America film, and moves into the main plot in the present from there. The film centres around a a newly formed Spider-Man who tries to stop a gang of criminals who are selling alien weapons to dangerous, in an attempt to prove himself to the Avengers. The great thing about this is that fans of the previous attempts to the property don't have to endure another origins story that has been well established in the other films, and can move straight into the main story, with the deta...

Wonder Woman

Image
Released: June 1st 2017 ( United Kingdom ) BBFC rating 12 Directed by Patty Jenkins After the mixed response of Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman, the DCEU needed to come back with a film that would draw its audiences back to the home base and return to the former glory once presented by the studio. Wonder Woman has succeeded in its purpose, in both saving the DCEU as well as launching the female lead comic book movies into a brighter reputation. The film has a good directory, moving slowly from her origins on Themascara, into the battle torn Belgium and the front lines of World War 1. The most noticeable part of the movie is the differences audiences can see between the character in this movie and the one seen in BVS, with a more juvenile attitude, with less understanding of how the world works. There is still the element of darkness portrayed in the story, being serious in a script that would be hard to take seriously from the start, and the supporting cast is also great, with ...

Guardian's of the galaxy: Volume 2

Image
BBFC rating 12 Released May 5th 2017 ( U.K.) Directed by James Gunn After the huge success of the first Guardian's of the galaxy movie , it was fitting that Marvel would green light the second space flick. Taking place after the events of the first one, the Guardian's are found as a hand for hire, but after causing a dispute with The Sovereign, they find themselves crashed on a distant planet where they meet Ego, the father of Star Lord. The film manages to maintain a level of interest for the whole run time, having great characters, new and returning, as well as stunning spectacles and some light hearted comedy. Together the total blend of the film works really well, along with the return of a mainly 70's soundtrack and some Easter eggs for those keen eyed views. The storyline is also very compelling, bringing a touch of reliability to a sci fi film, my only issue is that there seems to be multiple stories going on at once for a while in the story, which splits cha...

Thursday Rant

Image
Dc Movie news and project updates. Dc have rolled out a bunch of new projects in the last couple of months after the response from suicide squad and the view on upcoming projects in 2017, so here's an update of what to expect, baring in mind that there are not many release dates for these, and some could be speculated, but most are confirmed. The Batman update Ben Affleck has pulled out of the directing role in this film, and did it quite some time ago, with the backlash over his current film Live bully Night being overshadowed by his next job. Due to this Matt Reeves has stepped into the position, with previous films such as Cloverfield and The planet of the apes films, so the story will probably take a dramatic turn, and leaves us wander what an Affleck take would her brought us. As well as this we have been confirmed the villain of the film, which is Deathstroke played by Joe Manganiellio, and will take a further sense of action to the set-piece. . Image copyright to...

Skyfall

Image
Released 26th October 2012 BBFC rating 12 Directed by Sam Mendes Skyfall was probably one of the most anticipated Bond films to date, having to be better than Quantum of solace, as well keep the promise of going more into James Bonds past. The film starts off very strong, with an opening sequence to start off the film's events as well as delivering a gripping action sequence to keep the audience satisfied, and to keep in line with the previous entries. The movie then goes into a very intense phase, becoming very realistic and making the viewer think more in an action movie. This manages to stay throughout the film, and makes it better than Quantum, delivering more emotion as well as a great villain played by Javier Bardem, and strong returning performances from Dame Judy Dench, and a more sophisticated version of Bond from Daniel Craig. Overall the film is interesting, makes sure that the view knows what is happening when they should and manages to keep them enticed for the ...

Iron Man 3

Image
Released 14th April 2013 BBFC rating 12 Directed by Shane Black After the success of the Avengers, the start of Marvel phase 2 had to bring in one of the original starters to the large universe, and have him updated to become darker and more serious than before. The fact that this has been done is why this film stands out to me, moving away from the jokey side of the universe moving into more serious points, focusing on themes such as terrorism as well as trauma. This is probably the better of the Iron man films, with good action and drama that develops well throughout the whole film, and does well to keep a mainstream audience into the film. The issue surrounding this film comes in the comic fans disappointment. Ben Kinsley does very well as The Mandarin, the issue is what the film does to the character, and leaves us wondering if the film had been better off without this change. As well as that there is not enough Iron man for a film called 'Iron Man'. However Guy P...

Kingsman: The secret service

Image
Released 29th January 2015 (UK) Directed by Matthew Vaughn BBFC rating 15 After the success of Vaugh's take on the X men franchise, it was probably a safe bet to place him on another comic book movie. The bet has paid off well, with the flick doing incredibly well for itself, being a great stand alone film for the year,as well as one of the top of the spy films in 2015, Kingsman has the perfect blend of action and comedy to create a teen friendly film that doesn't just base all of its jokes on crude language. The acting is very well done, with great performances from Colin Firth and Taron Ederton, pulling together to create a well balanced story and action adventure at the same time. The only issue that I have with it is the pace of the story, it feels like it drags out the training for most of the film, then rushes into him being great at the job, which works well for the story, but can confuse some audiences near the end. There are also some scenes that don't fi...

The Social Network

Image
BBFC rating 12 Released 15th October 2010 Directed by David Fincher The idea of a biopic of the life and creation of Mark Zuckerberg may have seemed like an uninteresting story to many, but thus original film takes a massive surprise, almost as large as the success of Facebook itself, and pulls and dramatic yet factually accurate docu-drama onto the big screen. The performances from Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield are superb, showing a relationship that is well developed throughout the whole film, as well as good supporting acting  from Justin Timberlake of all people, and makes each of the characters unique and memorable even after the film has finished. And it's not just what the film is delivering to the audience through the actors, I think Aaron Sorkin on screenplay was great, and managed to highlight each person in the development of the site that many people may not know about. It's emotional, its detailed, it doesn't go into moments where you lose focus, i...

Doctor Strange

Image
BBFC rating 12 Released 25th October 2016 Directed by Scott Derrickson After numerous Marvel films coming out for the last 8 years, Doctor Strange brings a new look into the spectrum of superhero films in the form of magic, unfortunately it wasn't as much as a break through as was hoped. The film is much too short to be trying to introduce a brand new character into a universe full of different ones, and leaves a lot of the characters underdeveloped, instead focusing on trying to fill in all the points it needed to, and focusing a lot on graphic design and effects, moving away from development of Doctor Strange himself. It got to a point at the end of the film where I didn't see Strange as a powerful sorcerer, but still just a trainee. It's the same issue with the main villain, which had a total screen time of around 10 minutes. However, the visuals are amazing, bring a lot of CGI into the mix to create visually challenging and gripping sequences that looks like i...

Deadpool

Image
BBFC rating 15 Released 14th Febuary 2016 Directed by Tim Miller After the film X-men origins Wolverine absolutely butchered the character of Deadpool, as well as any hopes for further X-men spin off movies, Ryan Reynolds and Tim Miller saw to do the character some justice in the form of this film. It's essentially another origins movie underneath but yet helps to flip the superhero genre on its head, making many jokes seen unfit for a film aimed at younger viewers, yet fits the character precisely, as well as the well loved 4th wall breaks randomly coming up in the film that helps to throw the audience off balance. The only problem with this many jokes is that they start to become very repetitive, with a lot of crude humour that seems very filling. The only time this dissent seem to happen is when the character makes well placed continuity jokes, that helps to remind us that this is a film that isn't meant to be picked apart, making this review pointless in a way. Anywa...

Popstar: Never stop never stopping

Image
BBFC rating 15 released: August 26th 2016 From comedy group ' The Lonely island ' comes this hilarious original film that was probably the best comedy from 2016, its that good. The lonely island comes back to what they are great at in the film, having a film based on the radical lifestyle of a 'Popstar' ( see what they did there), and writing the songs that he would eventually sing to the world. Of course these are not your run of the mill songs, with one talking about sexy times in the context of the death of Bin Laden, another that talks about how the Mona Lisa is a piece of carp, and one that spends the whole song telling us that Andy Samberg's character is straight. As well as that there are a load other moments of crude humour that is actually quite funny, in a world full of rubbish jokes in movies, as well as some great story, directing the film as if it where almost a documentary, allowing for some great cameos in the film, such as Snoop Dogg and Martin...

London has fallen

Image
Released 3rd March 2016 BBFC rating 15 Directed by Babak Najafi The sequel to Olympus has fallen returns with the so called 'London has fallen ', spoiler alert, London falls. That could probably be guessed, as could the rest of the film, which is just a cliche one after the other, with not a lot in between each of them. As well as the the effects are terrible, with most of them looking like something you would see out of a power rangers tv show, and it is not as if that had to be done, decent effects could have been used with a budget of 60 million. As well as this the dialogue is rubbish, with time taken out of the action to explain that Gerald Butler is thirsty, with a lot of unnecessary F-bombs throughout the whole film. As well as that there is homophobic and racist comments which adds nothing to the film at all, as well as rubbish action sequences between Gerald and some unknown terrorist, which is never clearly defined in the film, as well as the fact that the good...

Star Trek beyond

Image
Released 22nd July 2016 BBFC rating 12 Directed by Justin Lin After the brilliance that was 'Into Darkness', the Star Trek reboot prequel series has returned for the third instalment with a new hand at the helm, Fast and Furious director James Wan. The film starts off as traditional Star Trek film, with the enterprise doing basic missions, until it is tricked and abandoned on a planet fighting against Idris Elba's 'Krall'. The film certainly has the attitude of the last one with the same amount of drama, mixed with sci find action, and a lot of Fast-and-Furious-isms thrown into the film, which really sets it apart from the other two previous films. But it certainly still holds up, with more comedy than the last films, as well as the run of the mill Enterprise getting destroyed scene.  The returning cast are excellent as usual with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg reprising there well loved roles, with new-comer Zoe Salander joking the crew also. As w...

Hacksaw Ridge

Image
Released 26th January 2017 (U.K) BBFC rating 15 Directed by Mel Gibson Hacksaw Ridge follows the journey of a medic in world war 2, played by Andrew Garfield, who refuses to kill another man due to his pacifism. As well a this though it doubles as a true story of the events on hacksaw ridge portrayed well through the attention to detail in the plot as well as the set. The graphics of the injuries helps to show the devastation of what happened on the ridge. The film does well to balance the emotional effects of the character and the violence and action of the actual battle, delving in and out of each at points in the film, keeping it very connecting and emotive to the audience. Also, it doesn't hold back when it comes to violence, showing a lot of scenes, that at some point seem quite unexpected and unnecessary to the plot ( Mel Gibson scenes), and others that show the true horror of the event, such as a lot of Japanese suicide scenes. In my opinion the film should have won...

Independence day: Resurgence

Image
BBFC rating 12 Released June 24th 2016 Directed by Roland Emmerich. After the events that unfolded in the first film, and the fact that there was no set up what so ever for this film, the idea that another one would be made was what fans of the nineties and nerds where waiting for. Unfortunately like most other massive summer blockbusters this year, it could not live up to the hype. Instead of delving into gripping storylines and great speeches, the film instead focuses on the fact that humans have alien technology, so let's have some scenes showing off the special effects in that. As well as that the film takes a long while to get to a decent pace in the first act, followed by incredibly rushed plot, back to slow scenes that make zero sense. However the action of the film is very well done, making the dogfights that people want to see very plausible and engaging, as well as some more alien action seen in the last film. The issue that arose from this is that the moderation b...

The Lego Batman movie

Image
BBFC rating U Released 10th February 2017 After the large success of 2014's the Logo movie, this spin off instalment was highly anticipated, and it pulled off. The great thing about this film is that it has very few limits, with slot of the batman mythos being allowed to be explored, such as obscure references, and call backs to the previous films featuring the Batman. As well as that the big tie in at the end really helps to bring the film out, but I'm not going to add spoilers. As well as that the roasting of the other DC films helps to bring an extra layer of comedy into the film for nerd  like me, and the amount of Easter eggs in the film where very intriguing. Honestly for adults and children alike thus us one of the best animated films I've seen, an dis probably one of my favourite films if that wasn't enough. Contains humour and references My rating 8.7/10 Image subject and copyright to Warner brothers animated pictures. I do not own this image.

Whiplash

Image
Released 2014 BBFC rating 15 Directed by Damien Chazelle Musical films have never really had me very interested before, and it could be a similar case to a lot of people reading this now, but this file really shows how good they can be, and just to clarify, it is a film surrounding music, not a musical. The film balances this really well, not feeling like the music is taking it away from the plot of the story, instead focusing more on the relationship between the two main characters played by Miles Teller and J.K Simmons. However when the music is introduced in the film, it is extraordinary, with great numbers thrown in, as well as good drama sewn into the music itself. If your looking for a film that really gets you interested, and looking for a film that will show you how well a film can be done, this is a good place to start. Contains bad language and scenes of injury My rating 8.9/10 Image subject and copyright to Sony pictures. I do not own this image.

The Bourne supremacy

Image
Released 23rd July 2004 BBFC rating 12 Directed by Paul Greengrass After the success that was the Bourne identity, Matt Damon returns to the franchise with a blast. Follow Bourne through his past, after a tragic accident left him empty an edge is hunted by the C.I.A to bring him back. The film world very well with the overall plot well balanced with action to keep the viewer engaged in it, and it moves well to keep you understanding of what is happening. The only issue with it is the obssesvie shaky camera, which causes nausea on a massive level. Apart from that I would highly recommend this film, it will thoroughly entertain you and with a new addition of Brian Cox and Karl Urban into the mix, it truly is an action spectacle. Contains violence and bad language My rating 7.7/10 Image subject and copyright to universal pictures, I do not own this image

The Big short

Image
Released 2015 Bbfc rating 15 Director: Adma McKay The big short is a film that not many people may have heard of, but they really should. Based on the novel by Michael Lewis, comes a drama that is scarily realistic, because it was. After the economical collapse of America in 2005, 4 people try to make money off of the situation, the film focuses around these four people for the entirety, with a well narrated background story telling from a Ryan Gosling. Now the idea of a film about banking doesn't seem very interesting or gripping, but it manages to keep the story engaging for the viewer, switching between each person in the film around every 20 minutes, including people like Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Brad Pitt. And if you think the film is hard to understand at some points, the film fourth wall breaks with some well known celebrity cameos to help you out, e.g Margot Robbie in a bubble bath. It's the mixture of fourth wall breaks and drama that makes this film so ...

What to expect from suicide squad 2

After the release of 2016's suicide squad, the fan base was truly rattled in a way that left most of us confused. A lot of the film has been sorted out though, with most of it being torn apart to the point that we have ended up knowing most of what is to know now, but a lot of things were missing from the film that are speculated for the next one due in 2020. One of the main things was Deathstroke, one of the key characters frontage comics which hasn't yet been seen on the big screen, only making an appearance on the 2013 show Arrow. However there is a large chance of him appearing in this one, with his appearance confined in the next batman film next year. He was speculated for this one, but was seen no where in the film. The film will probably run a lot smoother, now that they have all been introduced, and less backstory/ origin flashbacks, giving more way for actual action. Hopefully there is more batman in the film, and maybe more joker, just to give something for the squad...

Thursday Rant

Who is the best joker and why Jared Leto isn't After the initial release of suicide squad, there was a lot of mixed reception about Jared Leto's portrayal of the iconic character, but let's face it, it wasn't great. So I'm going to look into the best Joker over all the times we have seen him on screen. 1. Mark Hamill. Probably that best animated joker ever seen, due to the fact he is the only one people actually remember from the animated Batman shows. Player the joker in the Batman animated series, Batman Beyond tv series and return of the joker film, as well as 3 of the four Arkham games, thus joker is certainly one of the originals and longest running portrayal of the character, as well as the most frequently used. The character is so well done j this version as it sticks straight to the comic books with the story of him, as well as his actions and speech style. The fact is, is that there is nothing that Hamill could go against with t his version, because he...

Suicide squad spoiler review ( in depth)

If you read my previous post, then you may have read that it was not as good as the film should have been. There are of course many reasons for this, the first being the fact that the script was written in a matter of six weeks, which is incredibly fast, and after the feedback from Batman v Superman, Warner Brothers are probably regretting this decision. As well as this  a lot of the film had to be re-shot, as test audiences preferred the lighter tone of the film, over the original dark concepts. This however made the film very depicted together, making it lose a lot of sense from act one to two, and the gives reason for the sudden change of tone. As well as this the soundtrack to the film was very slapped in, with a lot of it seeming very out of place in certain areas. The story itself for me had a lot of issues, one being that there are just too many characters there, even after the death of slipknot, causing the film to seem very cramped trying to focus on all of them. I did lik...

Suicide Squad

Image
BBFC rating 15 Released August 2016 Directed by David Ayer Being the third film to enter into the D.C. extended universe, and its fair to say a risky take. They've taken a concept that we haven't really seen before in a super hero movie, as well as a lot of characters people haven't heard of, and put them really early in a collection of high grossing films. It has paid off in a way that they have become much more than they were before this film but in another way though, it hasn't. I feel like after Batman v Superman, they needed to come back with a film that met people's expectations, and it hasn't. It was not as good as was hoped for, but by no means am I saying that it was a bad film, its just that the film has lacked something, and because if that it lust the film in another light than it should have been. It is an entertaining movie however, fulfilling that demand for action that most fans were looking for, as well as keeping it with a bit of humour....

The fugitive

Image
BBFC rating: 12 Released: 1993 Directed by Andrew Davis As the thriller industry has only gotten bigger over the past years, in films categorized as 'manhunt' films, this is a good one to watch, as it is a gritty original action thriller with Harrison Ford, and Tommy Lee Jones, with suspense, actions and a really gripping story. Following the events after a murder of a Dr Richard Kimbles wife, the good doctor himself has been blamed for her murder. The film follows his escape from death as he runs away from the law. This is a great film and is really well directed , balancing drama with action very well. If you are one of the people who find Bourne a bit too confusing, this is a good film to start out at.  Contains bad language and violence My rating 8.4/10 Just a heads up, next week is a new series I'm starting called weekly looks, starting next week with a week of suicide squad, with a post everyday from Tuesday to Friday, next week. Also please follow my pag...

Star Wars Episode IV: A new hope.

Image
BBFC rating: U Released 1977 Directed by George Lucas The original entry to the star wars franchise, and is there really much point of me reviewing this film, because let's face it, you've seen this film. But in the interest of fairness, let's do it anyways. What is seen as one of the first sci fi films that appealed to all audiences, a new hope has everything you could want from a film, to a mysterious bad guy, to a young hero and a bad ass sidekick, George Lucas has done really well to produce a master piece ( until he went and ruined it in 1999). As well as the fact that the characters of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo have gone down in pop culture history. So follow Luke and Solo on an epic adventure across space and enjoy amazing effects for the time and great story telling. Honestly if you haven't seen this film then you have been living under a rock or just haven't got round to living a life yet. Highly recommend it, go watch it now and wat...

Four Lions

Image
BBFC rating: 15 Released 2010 Directed by: Chris Morris I was once told by someone that if a movie doesn't make a lot at box office, its not a good film. This film defies that claim in an amazing way. From director Chris Morris come this hilarious original film about terrorism of a lot things. The comedy in this film is superb, with a lot of quotable jokes and remarks, easily breaking a six laugh test ( a system on finding out how funny a film is). It's not as if the film has unknown faces in the film, starring Riz Ahmed, who was recently in Bourne and Rogue one, and Benedict cumberbatch of all people. Honestly this is a laugh-out-load film, full of comedy, emotion, and enough references to Alton Towers to put Thorpe park out of business. Highly recommend this film and is a truly hilarious film. Contains bad language and violence. My rating 8.5/10 Image subject and copyright to studiocannal studios and Film 5. I do not own this image. Also go check out a YouTube c...

Star wars episode III: revenge of the Sith

Image
BBFC rating: 12 Released 2005 Director: George Lucas The last instalment of the prequel trilogy for Star Wars, and this is probably considered the good one of the three, as there is occasionally something going on that interests us in the plot, whether that is Ewan McGregor fighting a four armed robot on cliffs, to an Emo and a ginger fighting above some lava on floating platforms. However, this film has improved from the last two, as it has cut back on the mindlessly dull talking scenes, and has some good story in it, actually explaining how episode IV came along, and how the Star Wars universe ended up as it was. This does not go to say that the film is without flaws though. Apart from the list of really dumb things to happen in the movie, listed above, it also goes around ruining a lot of other things in the overall plot, like explaining that Vader is in his suit because he had a nightmare, got scared, then couldn't quite jump high enough when it mattered, as well as the ...

Rogue one: A Star Wars story

Image
Released 16th December 2016 BBFC rating: 12A Return to the star wars universe in what is undoubtedly the best star wars prequel ever, even though it wasn't hard competition. It is even possible to say that this is one of the best star wars films in the saga.
