Iron Man 3

Released 14th April 2013
BBFC rating 12
Directed by Shane Black
After the success of the Avengers, the start of Marvel phase 2 had to bring in one of the original starters to the large universe, and have him updated to become darker and more serious than before. The fact that this has been done is why this film stands out to me, moving away from the jokey side of the universe moving into more serious points, focusing on themes such as terrorism as well as trauma. This is probably the better of the Iron man films, with good action and drama that develops well throughout the whole film, and does well to keep a mainstream audience into the film. The issue surrounding this film comes in the comic fans disappointment. Ben Kinsley does very well as The Mandarin, the issue is what the film does to the character, and leaves us wondering if the film had been better off without this change. As well as that there is not enough Iron man for a film called 'Iron Man'. However Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian works well and the serious tone of the film works well for me, especially the destruction of Stark mansion, which is a well done scene and probably stands out best in the film, being one of the main selling points. Overall the film could have been better, but it still has its enjoyable moments and is one of the earlier Marvel films to focus on a moral that is clear.
Contains violence and mild language.
My rating 7.7/10
