Hacksaw Ridge

Released 26th January 2017 (U.K)
BBFC rating 15
Directed by Mel Gibson
Hacksaw Ridge follows the journey of a medic in world war 2, played by Andrew Garfield, who refuses to kill another man due to his pacifism. As well a this though it doubles as a true story of the events on hacksaw ridge portrayed well through the attention to detail in the plot as well as the set. The graphics of the injuries helps to show the devastation of what happened on the ridge. The film does well to balance the emotional effects of the character and the violence and action of the actual battle, delving in and out of each at points in the film, keeping it very connecting and emotive to the audience. Also, it doesn't hold back when it comes to violence, showing a lot of scenes, that at some point seem quite unexpected and unnecessary to the plot ( Mel Gibson scenes), and others that show the true horror of the event, such as a lot of Japanese suicide scenes. In my opinion the film should have won more awards than it did at the Oscars because it is a truly great film and contains aspects that everyone will enjoy, from romance to action, emotion and adrenalin.
Contains blood, injury detail, violence, bad language and scenes of threat.
My rating 9.1/10

Quote of the film' we're waiting sir, waiting for private Doss to finish praying for our protection'
