Doctor Strange

BBFC rating 12
Released 25th October 2016
Directed by Scott Derrickson
After numerous Marvel films coming out for the last 8 years, Doctor Strange brings a new look into the spectrum of superhero films in the form of magic, unfortunately it wasn't as much as a break through as was hoped. The film is much too short to be trying to introduce a brand new character into a universe full of different ones, and leaves a lot of the characters underdeveloped, instead focusing on trying to fill in all the points it needed to, and focusing a lot on graphic design and effects, moving away from development of Doctor Strange himself. It got to a point at the end of the film where I didn't see Strange as a powerful sorcerer, but still just a trainee. It's the same issue with the main villain, which had a total screen time of around 10 minutes. However, the visuals are amazing, bring a lot of CGI into the mix to create visually challenging and gripping sequences that looks like inception on drugs, honestly it was dazzling. This isn't one of the worst MCU films, but it should have been much better than it was, but still had good entertainment in some areas.
Contains violence and mild bad language.
