The Big short

Released 2015
Bbfc rating 15
Director: Adma McKay
The big short is a film that not many people may have heard of, but they really should. Based on the novel by Michael Lewis, comes a drama that is scarily realistic, because it was. After the economical collapse of America in 2005, 4 people try to make money off of the situation, the film focuses around these four people for the entirety, with a well narrated background story telling from a Ryan Gosling. Now the idea of a film about banking doesn't seem very interesting or gripping, but it manages to keep the story engaging for the viewer, switching between each person in the film around every 20 minutes, including people like Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Brad Pitt. And if you think the film is hard to understand at some points, the film fourth wall breaks with some well known celebrity cameos to help you out, e.g Margot Robbie in a bubble bath. It's the mixture of fourth wall breaks and drama that makes this film so good, a seriously great film to see.
Contains nudity and frequent bad language.
My rating 9.3/10
