A lot of sequels that have come out recently have been accused of being mindless repeats of the originals, with the new Star wars sequels and the previous Jurassic world being the main contenders, and while Fallen Kingdom has attributes different to that of Lost World, it may be suffering from a similar fate. The film follows three years after Jurassic World, with the volcano on Isla Nublar threatening the existence of the De-Extinct Dinosaurs on the Island, and Clair (Howard) and Owen (Pratt) attempt to rescue them. While the film has resemblances to the lost world there are however attributes that differ, with the second half of the film venturing into new territory for the film, trying to create some originality. Fallen kingdom does well to keep the viewers entertained, with nice twists throughout the film and keeping people interested in what is going on. I think the story of the film is very good and the returning cast of the film do very well. However the new cast seem to be a bit out of place, feeling like they are just there to attract a different audience, and the characters that we want to see a lot of such as Toby Jones and Jeff Goldblum seem a bit wasted in their roles. As well as this there are a lot of moments where there are obvious jokes trying to be made, but don't quite fit and as a result ruin the scene slightly. Also, and while this is no fault of the film, the trailers gave a lot of the film away, meaning that if you go in knowing nothing of the film it will be very exciting. However, while it is not quite Jurassic park or World it is still very enjoyable, and ventures into a new stage of a Jurassic park film, behaving in a new way that alters what we have come to expect, creating more of a thriller or horror atmosphere, and to me made it very enjoyable. Also I think that having more focus on the dinosaurs made it more interesting, and made the film more enjoyable from an action standpoint. So while not being as good as the previous film, it is still better than the film it is relating to and has done a good job to set up a new future for the Jurassic films.
