The future of the marvel cinematic universe
Its no surprise that the Marvel Cinematic universe will eventually have to end. But that won't be for a long time. This does ensure that Marvel will have to make changes to the castinng of the characters in the films, as a lot of the actors contracts will come to end soon. People like Chris Evans may stay for the long run, but he will more likely be behind the camera, directing the new captain. But it does ask questions as to what will come of the franchise after phase four is over, and I have come upbwith theories as to what will happen. Bearing in mind spoilers for most MCU films and that this is all speculation, so it could go any way.
1. Continuation
The main theory is that it just won't stop at phase 4, and most likely go into 5. The films have done well to set up other charcters outside the main Avengers, such as the Falcon, Doctor Strange and War Machine. This will most likely run into new Avengers films, with Strange taking the lead role at the helm, with the others forming this B team of sorts. I would quite like this idea, and it looks like the way Marvel will go with it, but something more original would be preferred, as I'm kinda getting bored of these charter representations. And you might be like ' wait I really love these actors, you suck' or ' I think Benedict Cumberbatch is great, I love him, hes the greatest actor in the world'. Yes, maybe he is, I dont know, he was great in Star Trek, but the point is, it has to end somewhere, and it might as well be soon, otherwise you will get ' The Avengers 7, Thanos is back' and thats just so bad. Look at Fast and Furious. Theres an eigth one now, theres not even that many star wars yet. I just feel after a while it will get a bit repetitive
2. Reboot
This is my most favoured option. Marvel have done well to lay down these charcters that everyone loves know, so why not recast them and make them original agian. I would love to see an Invincibe Iron Man film, with someone like Armie Hammer as Stark, Iit would be so good. But Marvel may be reluctant to do this for many reasons. One, they have a good universe set up already, and knowing Marvel they won't risk losing that, also they've seen the effect of a reboot on a character, look at Batman and Superman, at the negative response they have been getting. Also I feel as if, if Marvel where to reboot it, it eould be too close to home, and feel just like the original ones. But you know maybe they could have some villans we want to see, like Crimson Dynamo and a proper Mandarin, not a Bald guy, a Russian guy, and a Fake guy.
3. Start over
This seems like along shot for Marvel, but I think it could work. Looking at the previous success of Marvel, they are good at taking pretty unknown characters, and making them icons. Why not do it again? They have a full universe of charcters to chose from, why not just set up a new story ark. They have alot to chose from, as well as the rights to Spider-Man now, so they have a fair amount to play with here. We still have the iron spider, Black Goliath and loads more to see. There would be the fact that know one knows who most of these people are, but slap Marvels name on it, and thats at leat 2 million people watching it right there.
Like I said before the first option seems most likely and would be the best for Marvels buisness, but some differnace wouldn't be a problem. If you enjoyed this a would like some more, like the page, and comment on your favorite MCU film so far.
