Best Lad night films

It's a Friday night. You get back with the lads, spend some time gaming, have a lot to eat, and it gets to the end of the night. You sit down to watch a film, but what to watch?  Its a common issue, trying to find a film to satisfy a group of people, all likely to have varying opinions on the recent releases. Well here are my ten choices for films that will hopefully sort out the stress.

10. Thor: Ragnarok
Thor Ragnarok is probably one of the most fun Marvel films in the MCU excluding the Guardians films, and is undoubtedly one of the funniest. Thor: Ragnarok is truly the lovechild of Taika Waititi, and is an easy film for a group of people to laugh over, while still being simple enough to watch outside the massive MCU continuity. The film revolves around a simple Hero Vs Villain story, however simply put- feels like a comic book, from the colourful graphics to the mythical characters, it has you on the edge of your seat every time you see it, and is a great quick and relaxing film.

9. Tropic Thunder
Simply put, it is a film that is funny for all the wrong reasons. The film revolves around Ben Stiller and other widely known actors, playing actors trying to make a film about the Vietnam war, however the jokes that are made are so shocking and absurd, you end up laughing at the writers for making them, rather than the jokes themselves. To sum up this film, there are many actors in it you simply won't recognise for the sheer ridiculousness of the film, including Tom Cruise playing a fat, bald , swear obsessive Movie producer, and if that is intriguing enough I don't know what it.

8. Casino Royal
While it may not be everyone's favourite bond film or the easiest one of them to sit through, it is one of the most action packed and enjoyable of the series. It was a close call between this and Skyfall, however I feel Casino has the edge in being many different films in one. You have the classic spy film, inside a hardcore action, inside a deadly strategy game, and is one that everyone can watch and still feel a sense of danger, even if they've watched it many, many times before. As a first outing for Daniel Criag, it is an excellent film and makes the time fly by.

7.Deadpool 2 - Super Duper cut
Deadpool 2 is certainly an easy to watch film, filled with plenty of action and comedy to keep everyone entertained. However, compared to the original the extended cut fills itself with more jokes, as well as alternative ones that are arguably funnier than the original. As well as this, as a bonus the film can work on its own, meaning that if in the unlikely event that a mate hasn't seen it, they can still laugh along with the film and enjoy it independently. I fell this one has a better villain, a better story, and is more quotable than the original, making it go down well with the lads.

6. Oceans 11
The first in this list not to be an action film, oceans 11 is a chill, slick and incredibly stylish heist film that works with a group of people simply because you and your lads can relate to the massive amounts of characters in the film. People who have already seen it already love it and its unique style, and new people will love the comedy of the film as well as the smartness that seems not to evident in most modern day film's. It is close to being an absolute classic and while being tense, is still a relaxing film for the end of the day.

5. Mad Max - Fury Road
Destruction. That is the word that simply defines this film, purely refined, proper hardcore action which is done practically rather than with CG. And boy does it show, it is a beautifully crafted film, not overly drenched in story or plot, but designed to just give pure entertainment through vision. It keeps you encapsulated the entire run time and works as a simple popcorn and pizza movie to have in the background when your focus is diverted, however you will be drawn go it the entire time due to its sheer beauty

4. Kingsman- The Secret Service
A breakout spy film that turns the genre to a new page, subverting all of the high class we have come to expect from a spy film, and throws it into south London. Filled with unique action and hilarious gags, Kingsman is certainly a film in its own league. This one beats out the sequel on this list simply due to it being more original, more entertaining and undoubtedly funnier. As well as this every time you watch it you still get a sense of thrill and has brilliant pace. Kingsman is a raunchy and hilarious action film that certainly be loved by all the group.

3. The Dark Knight
Simply put, its the best superhero film ever, perhaps one of the best films I have ever seen. However it is not this high due to its brilliance as a film, instead being up here for being a tense, gritty, quotable crime thriller, and getting everyone gripped into the story no matter what they are into. On top of Heath Ledger's stand out performance, the film offers a group of lads unending thrills, the film doesn't slow down, there is constantly something going on, no matter how many times you've seen it. While being very long, it is still entertaining, with multiple twists and turns, and certainly something to discuss over and over once the credits have rolled.

2. John Wick
John Wick is a film infamous for having little to no plot. So why, you must ask, is it at the penultimate spot on this coveted list. John Wick is at its core an action film, and stays to this brief to the letter. The action is amazingly crafted, and the world that you are immersed in is intense and thoroughly interesting. For what the film lacks in plot it makes up for in vision, and the whole film acts as a never ending game of shoot outs. It will constantly keep everyone interested, with the main character never truly out of danger, however the simple plot makes it really easy to watch, which is a quintessential part of a lad film.

1. Hot Fuzz
It could only be this film. Hot Fuzz is one of the funniest, if not the funniest film in existence. Every time you re watch this film, and as a group of lads you do, you still find the jokes hilarious, the action breath taking, and will bond with each other over the sheer quotability of the film. Every 10 seconds in the film is a memorable quote, and like Oceans 11, each of the lads can relate to one of the many characters in the film. Honestly if you have not watched this film I recommend you go and do so. Hot Fuzz is definitely  the number 1 lad film, being the easiest to watch, the funniest, and the most memorable film for a group of friends.
